When does our Kiwanis club meet?
The Kiwanis Club of Celina meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at noon at CJ’s HighMarks Restaurant, 1211 Irmscher Blvd, in Celina, Ohio.
What do we do at meetings?
Members begin arriving at 11:45 AM and socialize as they are eating their hot lunch. Members pay $9 for food selected from a special menu. The meeting opens at 12 pm with the Kiwanis pledge and singing “God Bless America” or another appropriate patriotic song, a prayer and the recital of the Kiwanis motto. Then, the club president begins the meeting by introducing and greeting our guests. Committee announcements about upcoming events and projects are followed by “Happy Dollars. Our weekly speaker is the final portion of the meeting and our meeting concludes by 1 pm.
How much does membership cost?
The Kiwanis fiscal year is from October 1 through September 30. Annual dues are $120 due by September 1st. This includes Kiwanis International, the Ohio District, and local Kiwanis fees.
How do I join Kiwanis?
You’re invited to attend a meeting as a guest of a current member. If you join, that member will be your sponsor. Or you may attend a meeting and meet the fine men and women who make up our Club and learn more about Kiwanis. If you join you will receive a membership brochure and application. Upon completion of the application form, approval of the Board of Directors, and payment of fees, your sponsor will schedule your induction ceremony. It’s a simple, dignified ceremony where you are welcomed to the Kiwanis Club and receive a Kiwanis lapel pin to wear. There are no new member rituals or secret handshakes.
What does Kiwanis expect of new members?
We expect you to attend club meetings as regularly as possible and participate in Kiwanis service projects and fund-raisers. You are also expected to serve as an active member of at least one committee.We do not require perfect attendance but highly encourage your weekly involement.

You will have an opportunity to share your experience, knowledge and time with the community – “serving one child and one community at a time.” An interesting opportunity to relax, converse with friends, and listen to interesting speakers. Fellowship with other Kiwanians in Celina’s premier service club. You are encouraged to broaden your knowledge of Kiwanis and how to better serve our community by participating in inter-clubs to the other clubs in our Division and attending District & International Kiwanis training sessions.
How does the club raise funds?
The amount of money we grant to area organizations each year is directly related to the success of our fundraising efforts. Whatever we raise in a given year is distributed on an ongoing basis. Fundraising events include
:• Annual Reindog parade and pancake breakfast
• Lake-fest food Burger and Brats stand
• Other smaller fund raising activities throughout the year How do you get to know other Kiwanis Club members?
• At Wednesday meetings, we learn about the personal lives of our members during “Happy Dollars”. We learn about family members and travels, new children and grandchildren, weddings, and graduations, funny and sad stories, and personal and professional accomplishments.
• Social gatherings provide fun and fellowship for Kiwanis members and our families.
•We also enjoy visiting other Kiwanis clubs in our area, a practice encouraged throughout the Kiwanis world. Inter-clubs give us the opportunity to meet Kiwanis members and learn about their customs, projects, and successes.
